My experience with Greene Solutions was well worth the pricing, and I highly recommend them based off of my experience! I utilized the Deluxe Energy Audit service, and have an insulation installation scheduled. The amount of energy "surprises" in my condo were astounding--seemingly minor aspects of my home were responsible for huge losses in my precious air conditioned environment. I found out how much my plumbing negatively affected my heating and cooling costs. My favorite thing about the audit is that I was taken along every step of the process. Reports are neat to see, but I enjoyed the ability to see exactly where problem areas of my house were, and in real time. The owners were extremely knowledgeable about everything related to energy efficiency, and were happy to answer all of my questions about the work being done as well as questions I had about my energy efficiency in general. They even changed out an existing CFL bulb for one of my own LEDs in a vaulted ceiling area! I'm a big fan of many of the small benefits provided throughout the audit--you'll get a few neat energy and water-saving trinkets to use right off the bat. I received a very nifty water aerator for my kitchen and a more basic one for my sink, which use about 25% less water than the ones I had installed. CFL lights were available for free as well, though I already had LEDs installed everywhere. Of course, the advice was excellent as well--a prioritization of what improvements would save money both immediately and in the long run was very welcome, alongside what solutions would assist in the various challenges of my condo. Another major benefit is that they did find a couple of safety issues with my hot water heater and dryer. The audit included combustion tests of my heating system, along with one that discovered the potential for natural gas backflow into my condo. A home inspector I hired before purchasing this property did not even find these hazards! All in all, I feel that the energy audit was a fantastic investment. I can't wait for the insulation installation, given they found a number of issues that would not simply be corrected by blowing my ceiling up to R60 values--but of course, are covered under their own services. And they offer discounts for services scheduled after the audit, alongside re-testing the home to verify the efficiency of their work! Beefing up the energy efficiency of your home pays for itself, so this decision was a very easy one to make!
